An alternative Arundel Bypass Proposal - the A276?..........highlighted as a blue line, south of the yellow railway alignment
This proposal avoids the centre of the Arun Valley; Binsted Community; Binsted Woodlands and the South Downs National Park. It will provide the necessary infrastructure (10 metre wide free flowing road) for the long term needs of a rapidly expanding housing development area to the north of Bognor Regis and to the south of the coastal railway line?
In combination with the existing A27 (upgraded in the form of the "New Purple Route" from the existing junction at Crossbush with a 10 metre wide single (not dualled) carriageway up to the River Arun Bridge), it would increase the capacity and flexibility of the main East/West trunk road system, providing a more direct route between Crossbush in the East and the Chichester Bypass in the West, as well as diverting the primary additional traffic flow, generated by this housing expansion, away from the existing route through Arundel, away from the A29, Yapton Lane as well as reducing congestion along Ford Road.........download all documents from POSTS
